Social Media Integration

Submitted by Mitch Seigel on Sun, 10/02/2011

If you haven’t noticed, social media is defining how we do everything. Product development, media information delivery, connectivity with personal or professional contacts, political platforms; they all are now driven by social media.

If you haven’t jumped on the bandwagon, it’s not too late. And it never will be. Social media changes so quickly that now is always the right time to get involved. It’ll be a snap to catch up. You don’t need to try and do it all-just start doing it.

For your business try Linkedin, and for personal connections give Facebook a try. For marketing purposes, all social media have become acceptable and have become the norm, rather than the exception. Keep in mind that you want to inform, not promote, 90% of the time. Promoting is a turn off and can give your company negative spin, when it’s all about positive buzz!

If you know who your target market is, then you should also know what their social media habits are. Whether you use social media personally or not, your best road to your customers is through the social media that appeals to them, not to you.

The integration of social media into your traditional platform should be smooth. Don’t send different messages. You are what you are. The media is only the conduit to your customers. Have fun with it. The integration of both platforms will increase your reach and should net you increased results as well.

What are your challenges when it comes to integrating Social Media into your marketing plan? I look forward to hearing your comments.

Until next time …
