Time Management; a Prioritization
We have all faced times in our lives where we feel the pressure of multiple projects on our “to do” list. Having multiple things to do is important. How we prioritize those things to do is even more important.
One of the hardest things for people to say is no-Especially when it’s your boss giving you these requests. You want to be the team player so you take on all projects without hesitation. Before you know it, you are piled up with work and don’t know if you are going to get it all done.
If you can learn to say no you will eliminate part of the stress, just by having less of a workload. It may not mean that you have to completely say no, but possibly no for now. That is where prioritization comes in. If you stay on top of your projects and know the degree of difficulty of each, and can determine the length of time for completion, then you have half the problem solved.
Once you know the timeline for each project then you are able to set up a prioritization system to allow completion of each project in a timely manner. This is easier said than done. If you know you are a person who always has a lot going on, then you need to always prioritize. If this only happens once in awhile, then you can prioritize only when the problem arises.
Once you start prioritizing you’ll develop a pattern and process for doing so, and you will find at you are not so overwhelmed or stressed, and you can actually get more done than before having a process.
